Get Ahead! Participate in the E-Summer Program @ NOVA!

HACU and Dominion Energy logosThe E-Summer Program @ NOVA  is sponsored by the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU) and Dominion Energy. This program is designed to introduce students to STEM and the energy industry and is targeted to Hispanic and underrepresented minority students. Students will earn college credit, learn from industry leaders, and visit a Dominion Energy facility to learn more about careers in STEM.

Important Dates

Application closes: May 26, 2023 at 5 pm, EST

Courses begin: June 26, 2023

Courses end: August 4, 2023

 

How Do I Qualify?

Rising junior and seniors that meet qualifying GPA or test score requirements may apply. All students must submit a current high school transcript. If using qualifying test scores, please submit your College Board score report (PDF).

Students must provide evidence of a qualifying score:

  • High school cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher via high school transcript; or
  • PSAT EBRW score of 390 or higher; or
  • SAT EBRW score of 480 or higher; or
  • ACT English/Reading score of 18 or higher.

What NOVA Courses are Included in the E-Summer Program @ NOVA?

Students will take both:

Virtual  Course Component

There is a virtual course component to the in-person meetings and students must have access to a computer and reliable internet and may be required to participate in classes or take exams with their camera on. Remotely proctored exams also require the use of the Respondus Lockdown Browser, which must be downloaded to the student’s computer. Students are eligible for NOVA’s Laptop Loaner program.

How Do I Apply to the E-Summer Program @ NOVA?

  • You can select your location for the program between NOVA’s Woodbridge Campus or Alexandria Campus.
  • Classes will be in a hybrid format:
    • Students will be on-campus on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 am - 1 pm. In addition to the course meetings, students will learn from industry leaders about career opportunities, as well as benefits of higher education and NOVA resources. Lunch is included on Monday and Wednesdays.
    • Students will be virtual (via zoom) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am - 11 am.
  • Textbooks and course materials are provided.
  • Students are responsible for transportation to campus.

E-Summer Program @ NOVA students are expected to participate in and attend classes regularly. Courses will have an online component, so all students must have access to a computer and reliable internet and may be required to participate in classes or take remotely proctored exams with their camera on. Remotely proctored exams also require the use of a lockdown browser which will need to be downloaded to the student’s computer. High School Transcript

A current high school transcript is required to complete your E-Summer Program @ NOVA application.

College Transcript

By enrolling in the E-Summer Program @ NOVA, you are starting or continuing an official college transcript. You will be required to share this transcript with every college or university to which you may later apply.
