Academic Advising

Academic Advising can assist you through your educational journey. NOVA academic advisors can help you get started at NOVA, choose a program of study, review course selection, explore transfer and career opportunities and more.

In-Person

Academic advising is available for walk-in service at campus Advising Centers. Current students can make an appointment for advising through NAVIGATE Student from myNOVA.

Programming Areas

The ADV 100 virtual advising sessions will guide you through your first-semester enrollment and class scheduling, introduce you to important resources at the college, and help you understand the academic requirements and course sequences in your program of study.

The ADV 200 virtual advising sessions are a review of your academic advisement. You will learn to recognize your graduation requirements identify additional credentials you might be eligible to earn on the way. The sessions will also provide you with a checklist of completion requirements and address your questions about graduation.

NOVA staff and faculty will guide you in selecting the necessary classes for your academic program. The registration labs are specifically designed for Fall 2024 semester enrollment. To participate, please ensure the following:
