NOVA Workforce Advantage provides coaching, financial support and connections to resources that can help you stay in school, complete your Workforce FastForward class and move toward your career goals.

Whether you need help with basic needs like childcare, transportation or an unexpected expense, Workforce Advantage works with you to create a plan based on your goals.

What to expect

Meet with your Workforce Advantage Coach at least twice
Work with your coach to identify and achieve five individualized SMART goals based on your needs
Receive support including gas assistance, free parking, up to $1,500 in emergency assistance, and a $250 completion stipend
Successfully complete your NOVA Workforce Certification course

Who might qualify?

You might qualify for Workforce Advantage if you:

Are enrolled in a Workforce FastForward class
Are experiencing challenges paying for basic needs such as rent, transportation or gas
Currently receive SNAP or TANF, or believe you may qualify
Are a Virginia resident who has lived in Virginia for 12 or more months
Are a U.S. citizen or qualified non-citizen

Important: You must be enrolled in a Workforce FastForward class to participate in Workforce Advantage.

Support when you need it

We know that sometimes life gets in the way of school. Eligible students may receive support with:

Up to $200 of fuel assistance

This application is for students seeking fuel assistance to help cover transportation costs for commuting to in-person classes at NOVA through the Workforce program.

Eligible students are enrolled in a Fast Forward class with NOVA Workforce, prioritizing SNAP-eligible with demonstrated financial need

Unexpected expenses can make it difficult to stay in school. You may be eligible for emergency financial assistance when an unexpected financial need creates a barrier to your education.
