  • Runs up to 16 weeks, concurrent with your Workforce FastForward class
  • Requires about 2 hours per week outside of class time

Program Overview

Who Might Qualify

You might qualify if:

  • You face challenges paying rent, groceries, or gas
  • You currently receive SNAP, TANF, or believe you might qualify
  • You are a U.S. citizen or a qualified non-citizen (e.g. Approved Asylee, Green Card, DACA, etc.)
  • You are a Virginia resident (have lived in the state of Virginia for 12 or more months)
  • You are planning to enroll (or already enrolled) in a Workforce FastForward class
  • You meet the ESL requirements for FastForward classes
  • You are a parent

What You’ll Get

  • Guided career planning and coaching toward meaningful employment
  • Real-time support for food, housing, childcare, transportation
  • Smart reminders, check-ins, and progress tracking
  • Stipend incentives to reward milestones and retention
  • Access to certifications, internships, and job training that lead to employment
  • Professional development support and credential completion services
  • Networking opportunities with local employers
  • Participants may receive up to $500.00 in stipends, based on milestone completion and program participation

How It Works

  1. Submit an Interest Form
    Complete the Workforce Advantage Interest Form to get started.
  2. Get Matched and Enrolled
    If selected, you’ll join a Workforce Advantage cohort that runs alongside your FastForward class.
  3. Start Building Momentum
    Work one-on-one with a coach, access resources, and earn stipends as you complete milestones.
  4. Graduate and Connect to Opportunities
    Receive credential completion support and job connections through NOVA’s employer network.

NOVA Workforce Advantage offers limited fuel and parking assistance to help reduce transportation barriers while you are enrolled in an eligible program.

Important: Before accessing either resource, log in to your MyNOVA email account. You must be signed in to MyNOVA to access the application forms.

Gas Assistance

Eligible students may receive fuel assistance to support travel to and from their FastForward class.

What’s Provided

  • A $35 or $70 ExxonMobil fuel card, based on eligibility and demonstrated need
  • Fuel cards are mailed to the address provided on the form

Processing Time

  • Allow 5–10 business days for your request to be reviewed and processed

How to Apply

Parking Assistance

Parking assistance is available for students who need support covering campus parking costs.

What’s Required

  • Completion of a PDF form sent to your MyNOVA email
  • Your vehicle information (make, model, license plate number)
  • Your electronic signature on the form

Processing Time

  • Allow 3–5 business days for review and processing after submission

How to Apply

  • Log in to your MyNOVA email
  • Complete and submit the Parking Assistance Form
  • Look for an additional PDF form in your email to sign and complete your vehicle registration.
