Tammy Ignacio

Tammy Ignacio brings more than 30 years of experience in public education in Northern Virginia to the NOVA College Board. She retired from Alexandria City Public Schools in 2021 following a distinguished career as a teacher, principal, senior administrator, and School Board member. During her tenure, she served in several key leadership roles, including Chief of Staff, Chief Administrative and Operations Officer, and Associate Principal. She also completed a three-year term on the Alexandria City School Board.

Now serving as an administrative coach, Tammy specializes in instructional leadership, strategic planning, and organizational effectiveness, with a focus on improving student outcomes and strengthening postsecondary readiness. Throughout her career, she has led districtwide initiatives, fostered meaningful community engagement, and advanced equitable opportunities for students across the division. Her work reflects a deep understanding of the K–12-to-higher-education pipeline and a commitment to building partnerships that support student success.

Tammy earned a bachelor's degree from Fairmont State University and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University. She and her husband live in Alexandria and have five adult children and one grandchild.
