Derek A. Fuzzell

Derek A. Fuzzell, CPA, CMA, CSCA is an accomplished financial-services executive and experienced board leader with a distinguished record of service in governance, finance, and strategic planning. He currently serves as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of PAHO/WHO Federal Credit Union, where he leads accounting, finance, human resources, lending, retail services, and long-term growth initiatives that expand access to financial services for employees of the health, education, and development communities.

Mr. Fuzzell’s academic background includes study in microeconomics, managerial economics, quantitative methods, organizational leadership, finance, and accounting, equipping him with a rigorous analytical framework for policy evaluation, institutional finance, and strategic decision-making. His professional expertise combines financial modeling, regulatory compliance, and operational leadership with a values-driven approach to governance and institutional mission.

Derek has served on multiple nonprofit and cooperative boards, bringing deep experience in governance, fiduciary responsibility, and community engagement. He currently serves as a Board Member of Vizo Financial Corporate Credit Union, where he contributes to advancing innovation and collaboration across the credit-union system. He previously served on the Global Board of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) helping guide strategic investments and member engagement activities for the trade association. In addition, he served as Chair of the District of Columbia chapter of the Maryland/D.C. Credit Union Association.

Mr. Fuzzell is committed to the role of higher education as a driver of economic mobility, workforce development, and civic vitality.
