Diana Brown
Diana Brown is a proud first-generation college graduate, and the Chair of the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Board, representing the City of Manassas. With almost three decades of experience in public education, Ms. Brown has dedicated her career to student success as a teacher, teacher specialist, preschool specialist, and assistant principal. She currently serves as a Special Education Coordinator for Prince William County Public Schools, where she champions inclusion and aligns her work with the division's motto, “You Belong Here.”
Her leadership and advocacy extend into governance and community service. In 2025, Ms. Brown was elected to a four-year term on the Manassas City School Board. In 2026, reflecting her deep pride in her heritage as an immigrant from Honduras, she also began serving within the Honduran-American Association, an organization dedicated to strengthening the diaspora through civic education, capacity building, and professional mentorship.
Her outstanding contributions to education have earned her prominent recognition, including being named Virginia’s National Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) in 2021. In 2019, she received both the Bell Award and the Regional Outstanding Assistant Principal Award from the Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals (VAESP).
Ms. Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in English Education, a master’s degree in early childhood education with dual endorsements in Early Childhood and Special Education, and an Education Specialist degree in Supervision and Administration of Public Schools from George Washington University. Guided by a lifelong passion for community elevation, Ms. Brown leads the NOVA Board with the firm belief that higher education is the ultimate equalizer, driving forward-thinking policies that expand equitable access, accelerate workforce innovation, and redefine what is possible for lifelong learners across the region.
