NOVA's Summer College Prep & Virtual Internship Program

NOVA's Summer College Preparation and Virtual Internship Program is sponsored by JPMorganChase through the Greater Washington Partnership, and in collaboration with the Work-Based Learning Alliance (WBLA).

This 6-week no-cost program is designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to prepare for college while at the same time gaining meaningful professional experience. To support students as they transition from high school to postsecondary education and the workforce, this program will help students strengthen both their academic preparedness and their understanding of potential career pathways. During the program, participants will complete:

  • virtual college preparation course (SDV 100) that focuses on key topics such as navigating the college transition, developing effective study and time management strategies, exploring career pathways, and understanding college resources.
  • 50-hour paid virtual project-based internship: These internships allow students to work on real-world projects, collaborate with professionals, and develop essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and digital collaboration. By the end of the program, students will have gained valuable hands-on experience, expanded their professional networks, and developed skills that will support their success in both college and future careers.

This program is open to rising high school juniors and seniors who meet the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) readiness standards for enrollment. Students must be 16 or older by the first day of the class, June 23, 2026.
