Technical and Professional Writing Career Studies Certificate
Launch your career in technical and professional writing with NOVA’s Career Studies Certificate (CSC) in Technical and Professional Writing. You’ll learn how to write and edit professional documents such as reports, proposals, documentation and electronic texts in various workplace settings. This certificate provides skills you can use immediately in your role and can serve as the foundation for transferring into four-year programs in communications, writing and media. You’ll also be able to choose electives in the fields most applicable to your career goals, such as journalism, social media or web writing.

Program Details
The Professional Writing Certificate program equips candidates with the skills necessary to create and manage professional communications for various professions. Writers will learn to write, design, and edit electronic texts in different workplace genres, such as technical report writing, proposal writing, and documentation. Students will also acquire a strong foundation in different styles of professional business correspondence, grammar, and punctuation. The program offers a range of electives, including journalism, technical report writing, graphic design, writing for publication, writing for the Web, social media, and communications. The final course is a capstone class where students prepare a "professional portfolio" of their best writing and other projects that can help them advance their careers. The program also offers guidance on finding employment opportunities and preparing for job interviews.
