Office of Academic Integrity

Mission

The Office of Academic Integrity (OAI) supports NOVA’s core value of integrity across the academic community. By educating students about academic expectations, supporting faculty and staff in promoting ethical learning practices, and providing guidance for academic integrity processes, OAI contributes to a learning-centered community grounded in honesty, accountability, fairness, and trust.

Overview

The Office of Academic Integrity (OAI) supports the implementation of Academic Integrity Policy 224 and Procedure 224P by providing guidance, resources, and operational support throughout the academic integrity process. OAI collaborates with students, faculty, staff, and academic leaders to promote awareness of academic integrity expectations and support the consistent application of Academic Integrity Policy 224 and Procedure 224P across NOVA.

Our work includes:

  • Promoting awareness of academic integrity expectations across NOVA;
  • Providing guidance on preventing and addressing academic integrity concerns;
  • Supporting the implementation of Academic Integrity Policy 224 and Procedure 224P;
  • Educating students about their rights and responsibilities throughout the academic integrity process; and
  • Assisting faculty, staff, and academic leadership with reporting, reviewing, and resolving academic integrity concerns.

An academic integrity concern is an allegation that a student may have violated the Academic Integrity Policy. A concern does not mean a student has been found responsible. Students receive notice of the concern and an opportunity to respond before a determination is made.
