PHT 271 - Digital Imaging II (3 CR.)

Course Description

Introduces students to the tools and techniques used by professionals in the electronic imaging field. Focuses on current trends within the photographic, prepress and internet industries. Includes image capture, manipulation, and out-put. Exposes students to the hardware and software used by today's creative professionals in a combination of lectures, demonstrations and class projects. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

Explores advanced methods, tools and aesthetics of digital imaging as a fine art and means of communication.

Course Prerequisites/Corequisites

Prerequisite: PHT 270 or permission of the instructor

Course Objectives

  • Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:
  • Use professional digital image editing software competently
  • Control digital capture competently
  • Manage color workflow competently for various forms of output
  • Solve technical and visual problems of digital imaging ethically
  • Discuss digital imaging using appropriate vocabulary
