IDS 106 - Three-dimensional Drawing and Rendering (3 CR.)

Course Description

Provides instruction in graphic presentation of three-dimensionally drawn interiors. Presents the use of colored media to render three-dimensional drawings. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

This course introduces the student to various techniques and methods of translating floor plan and elevation drawings into three-dimensional views. Isometrics and one and two-point perspective will be taught in conjunction with pencil, marker and other coloring techniques for rendering these drawings. The student's presentation skills will be developed as various projects are executed. Critiques of the students' projects will be a part of group learning as the various assignments are presented.

Course Prerequisites/Corequisites

Prerequisite: IDS 100.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Use graphic tools for conveying interior design ideas.
• Discuss why, when and where a graphic technique is employed.
• Practice freehand drawing techniques.
• Execute projects through the pictorial systems of Paraline and Perspective Drawings.
• Apply color in various mediums to plans, elevations, perspective drawings, bubble diagrams and blocking diagrams
