HRT 275 - Landscape Construction and Maintenance (3 CR.)
Course Description
Examines practical applications of commercial landscape construction techniques, and materials used. Covers construction, planting, and maintenance. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
General Course Purpose
This course will give the student the background and experience to execute basic landscape plans and to construct a landscape project on site. Course will enable the student to develop maintenance specifications.
Course Prerequisites/Corequisites
Students should be able to perform basic computations and be literate in the English language.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Develop a maintenance plan
- Read and interpret a landscape plan.
- Estimate building materials and labor costs.
- Identify appropriate equipment and its safe use
- Identify local resources for construction materials and plants.
