DNA 114 - Chairside Assisting II (4 CR.)
Course Description
Introduces the student to the various dental specialties including oral surgery, orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Integrates and applies precious course content to operative dental procedures. Lecture: 2 hours per week. Laboratory: 6 hour per week. Total: 8 hours per week.
General Course Purpose
This course exposes the student to the knowledge and skills that are required for a dental assistant in the various dental specialties. Emphasis is placed on the sequence of steps, armamentariums, expanded functions and procedures performed in the specialized areas of dentistry.

- Describe the specialty of Periodontics and armamentarium
- Describe the specialty of Pediatric Dentistry and armamentarium
- Describe the specialty of Orthodontics and armamentarium
- Describe the modifications of patients with specials needs in the dental specialties
