DMS 217 - Sectional Anatomy Laboratory (1 CR.)

Course Description

Provides experience with sectional anatomy. Laboratory 2 hours per week.

This course provides hands-on experience to reinforce knowledge gained in DMS 207.

The student must satisfactorily complete all previous sonography courses with a grade of "C" or better.

At the completion of this course the student will be able to:

Recognize normal abdominopelvic anatomy and physiology.
Recognize normal vascular anatomy and physiology.
Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of sectional anatomy.
Differentiate among views of transverse, longitudinal and coronal planes
Correlate sonographic images with the different planes
Describe standard scanning protocols for abdominopelvic organs and vasculature.
Demonstrate knowledge of common diagnostic procedures.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the indications for performing diagnostic sonography procedures.
