DMS 217 - Sectional Anatomy Laboratory (1 CR.)
Course Description
Provides experience with sectional anatomy. Laboratory 2 hours per week.
General Course Purpose
This course provides hands-on experience to reinforce knowledge gained in DMS 207.
Course Prerequisites/Corequisites
The student must satisfactorily complete all previous sonography courses with a grade of "C" or better.
Course Objectives
At the completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Recognize normal abdominopelvic anatomy and physiology.
- Recognize normal vascular anatomy and physiology.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of sectional anatomy.
- Differentiate among views of transverse, longitudinal and coronal planes
- Correlate sonographic images with the different planes
- Describe standard scanning protocols for abdominopelvic organs and vasculature.
- Demonstrate knowledge of common diagnostic procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the indications for performing diagnostic sonography procedures.
