CST 141 - Theatre Appreciation I (3 CR.)
Course Description
Aims to increase knowledge and enjoyment of theatre. Considers process, style, organization, written drama, and performed drama. Lecture 3 hours per week.
General Course Purpose
To introduce students to the formal elements of theatre, from text to production.
Course Prerequisites/Corequisites
Fluency in Standard American English. Recommend proficiency in reading and writing at English 111 level.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Recognize a variety of dramatic structures
- Write critically about theatrical productions
- Identify and define the role of various collaborators in a theatrical production
- Identify key figures and developments in the creation of theatre
