CON 105 - Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Fundamentals II (3 CR.)

Course Description

Part II of II. Covers Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Fundamentals (Parts 1-53) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). Features Contract Formation and Contract Management/Administration. Part II of II.

Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

Provides the second part of the foundational knowledge of government acquisition processes and immerses the student in the FAR and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). The course is intended for beginning contract officers and students who are near the beginning of a Contract Management program.

Course Prerequisites/Corequisites

  • Prerequisite: CON 104.
  • Corequisites: CON 100.

Course Objectives

Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:

  • Accurately evaluate bids.
  • Evaluate competitive proposals and having discussions and negotiations with offerors after receipt of proposals.
  • Accurately make contract awards.
  • Defend a protest, whether agency, the GAO or Federal Claims Courts.
  • Execute simplified acquisition procedures.
  • Initiate contract work.
  • Accurately manage contract performance.
  • Accurately prepare and process contract modifications.
  • Accurately make contract payments.
  • Process contract disputes and appeals.
  • Terminate and or close out Government Contracts.
