Chief Brian Harris
Chief Brian Harris was appointed Chief of Police for Northern Virginia Community College in April 2025, following a distinguished 29-year career with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. He retired at the rank of Captain after serving in the Internal Affairs Division, where he provided leadership and oversight for units responsible for investigating allegations of police misconduct. Prior to joining the NOVA Police Department, Chief Harris held leadership roles in both patrol and investigative operations, bringing extensive law enforcement experience, operational knowledge and a strong commitment to public service to his current role.
A native of Northern Virginia and former NOVA student, Chief Harris brings both professional expertise and a personal connection to the college community. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts with a specialization in Criminal Justice from Newlane University.
