SUR 150 - Surgical Instrumentation (2 CR.)
Course Description
Introduces surgical instrumentation, supplies, and equipment used in the operating room for surgical procedures. Includes identification of instruments based on use, type, function, and design. Emphasizes use of surgical instruments to perform safely and effectively in the operating room environment.Lecture 2 hours. Total 2 hours per week.
General Course Purpose
Meets accreditation requirement of identifying surgical instruments by name, function, and design. Will enable the entry level surgical technologist to perform effectively and safely when handling surgical instruments.
Course Prerequisites/Corequisites
Prerequisite: Admission to the Surgical Technology Program or permission of instructor.
