SUR 100 - Introduction to Surgical Technology (2 CR.)

Course Description

Introduces professional practice concepts within the profession of surgical technology with emphasis on the profession and career opportunities. Introduces concepts such as group dynamics, effective communication, organization, prioritization, and delegation. Emphasizes standards of practice and codes of conduct for surgical technologists. Lecture 2 hours. Total 2 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

Introduces the broad field of surgical technology prior to entering the surgical technology program. The course is open to any student with an interest in the field of surgical technology. Aids in the retention of students in the surgical technology program.
