PHT 104 - Black and White Darkroom Photography II (3 CR.)
Course Description
Highlights advanced principles of photography including camera operation and darkroom techniques. Requires outside shooting and lab work. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
General Course Purpose
Improves control over the techniques of black & white film photography, including exposure, processing, and printing. Encourages work on individual projects and discussion in group critiques. Explores the medium as a fine art and means of communication.
Course Prerequisites/Corequisites
PHT 103 or permission of instructor
Course Objectives
Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:
- Expose and process black and white film to control negative characteristics
- Make black and white prints from negatives skillfully
- Produce and present a coherent photographic project
- Discuss photographic work thoughtfully in critiques using appropriate vocabulary
