PED 112 - Weight Training II (2 CR.)

Course Description

Focuses on muscular strength and endurance training through individualized workout programs. Teaches appropriate use of weight equipment. Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 3 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

The purpose of this course is to give the student knowledge and experience in progressive weight resistance training, as to how it affects one's physical fitness (muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, and percent body fat). Greater time will be spent on developing muscular strength and endurance than in PED 111.

None.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student w ill be able to:

  • construct weight training program for individual, varied goals
  • exercise safely (warm-up, correct lifting form, cool-down)
  • develop greater muscular strength
  • develop greater muscular endurance
  • understand the human physiology and muscular system
