EMS 120 - Emergency Medical Technician - Basic Clinical (1 CR.)

Course Description

Observes in a program-approved clinical/field setting. Includes topics for both EMS 111 and EMS 113, dependent upon the program in which the student is participating and is a co-requisite to both EMS 111 and EMS 113. Lecture 1 hour per week.

General Course Purpose

This course is a co-requisite of either EMS 111 or EMS 113, depending upon the Program in which the student is participating. The student is required to spend a minimum 16 hours including 2 documented patient contacts, in emergency medical care settings in either the Clinical setting such as an Emergency Department and/or in a Field setting with an active Emergency Medical Services agency. The total time can consist of all clinical setting observation, Field Observations or any combination of the two to complete the time requirement

Pre-req EMS 112 or Co-req EMS 111 or EMS 113 

Course Objectives

Provide a practical application and acclimation to the emergency pre-hospital care environment and the continuation of patient care into the Emergency Department setting.

Objectives

  • 16 hours of documented observation/assisting in an approved field/ clinical setting.
  • Minimum of 2 documented patient contacts
