CST 145 - Technical Theatre (3 CR.)
Course Description
Introduces students to the fundamental methods, materials and techniques involved in all areas of technical theatre production, such as sound, lighting, costuming, stage management and props, with an emphasis on scenic construction. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week. 3 credits
General Course Purpose
CST 145 familiarizes theatre students with the major areas of technical theatre with an emphasis on scenic construction. Students should become familiar with using basic tools.

None.
Course Objectives
Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:

- Identify and explain how various technical elements of a production (sets, lighting, sound, costume, etc.) contribute to personal perception.

- Cultivate personal goals related to theatre viewing and production experience.
- Script and Production Analysis
- Trace and describe the process of creating a theatrical production as it moves from page to stage.
- Interpret and analyze the intentions and artistic choices made in theatrical production.
- Read, analyze and evaluate scripts from a technical perspective.
