CAD 260 - Computer Applications for Surveyors and Technicians (3 CR.)

Course Description

Studies and evaluates numerous COGO software and their associated drafting packages. Includes calculations and drafting of traverse adjustment, subdivision, and curves.

Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

To familiarize the student with different applications of the computer as a tool in surveying and site analysis in order to improve accuracy, compile data which will interface with other pertinent software, and reduce expended time to provide a set of working drawings. 

Course Prerequisites/Corequisites

Competence in basic manual technical drafting as well as successful completion of the beginning CAD course. Prerequisite for this course is CAD 201 - "Computer Aided Drafting and Design I" or equivalent.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will:

• learn the different ways of utilizing computer in land development
• use CAD proficiently to calculate and draw traverse adjustment, subdivision and curves
• be familiar with the operation of Auto-Desk Land Development Desktop
• learn to study vehicular and pedestrian circulation as well as providing solutions
