BLD 232 - Construction Estimating II (3 CR.)

Course Description

Introduces fundamentals of construction cost estimating. Concentrates on methods for determining labor, equipment, materials, overhead, and profit costs as well as estimating project duration. Lecture 3 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

The purpose is to train the student enrolled in the Construction Management curriculum the methods of construction cost estimating.

Course Prerequisites/Corequisites

Prerequisite is BLD 231 - “Carpentry I”.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

• identify methods of cost estimating relative to labor estimating
• equipment estimating
• materials estimating
• overhead and profit estimating
• construction project duration times
