ART 287 - Portfolio and Resume Preparation (3 CR.)
Course Description
Focuses on portfolio preparation, resume writing, and job interviewing for the student. Recommended for final semester program students. Requires instructor's approval.
General Course Purpose
The course is offered for the final semester program student who is preparing to enter the job market or to transfer to a four year institution. The student should have a finished body of work of good quality, prepared or in preparation. The course is an elective for all art programs.
Course Prerequisites/Corequisites
Should be taken in last semester of Graphic Design AAS or Interactive Design AAS.
Course Objectives
The student will be able to present a portfolio of work for review, including slides and resume for the purpose of obtaining a job, transfer to a four year institution or for any other purpose, such as gallery exhibitions, which requires such presentation for advancement in the art fieldMajor Topics to Be Included
- Critique and selection of work for portfolio
- Techniques of matting and framing work and/or presentation of sculpture of other works as
- appropriate
- Resume preparation
- Slice preparation and presentation
- Interviewing techniques
- Knowledge and understanding of the market or institution which the student is addressing
