Counseling Services

Counselors are essential to student success by comprehensively addressing issues that interfere with students’ full academic and personal responsibilities. In addition to the wealth of knowledge about academic programs and processes, counselors possess advanced skills to support students holistically both inside and outside the classroom.

Career Counselors can assist you with exploring, developing and setting goals related to your unique educational and academic needs. Services include career assessments, occupational information, goal setting, planning and employment resources.

If you intend to get a degree from NOVA and transfer to another college, a counselor can make sure you’re taking the right courses. There can be variations in what colleges accept and you don't want to risk having to take extra courses.

NOVA serves a large population of students who receive disability-related accommodations. Check the Accommodations and Accessibility Services website before classes begin to find out how to get accommodations.

Counselors can assist you with identifying the factors that lead to poor academic performance, referring to appropriate resources, setting goals for academic recovery and providing approval for registration. Visit here for more information.
