Radiography Prerequisites

Apply May 15 to May 31

Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. All requirements must be done by May 31.

Refer to the RAD Information Session for more detailed information on completing each prerequisite.

How to Qualify to Apply

  • Review the RAD Information Session and note the information session code
  • Be a current student at NOVA
  • Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at NOVA
  • Meet English qualification by Direct Enrollment or Self-Placement
  • Meet Math qualification by Direct Enrollment or Self-Placement and qualify for MTH 161
  • Meet Biology qualification by completing BIO 101, NAS 2, or the NAS 2 Placement Exam
  • Complete SDV 101 Orientation to Healthcare with B or better grade
  • Complete ENG 111 College Composition I with B or better grade
  • Complete RAD 105 Introduction to Radiology & Patient Care with B or better grade
  • Complete BIO 141 Human Anatomy & Physiology I with B or better grade within past 10 years
  • Complete BIO 142 Human Anatomy & Physiology II with B or better grade within past 10 years
  • Complete TEAS with minimum score of 50 in Reading, Math, and English within past 3 years

How Eligible Students Apply

  • Submit an online application during the application period
  • Attach all applicable TEAS scores to the online application
  • Check your VCCS student email – allow 4 to 8 weeks from the deadline for notifications
  • All accepted students must attend both days of the in-person program orientation

How Eligible Applications Will Be Ranked

  • Final grades in BIO 141 and BIO 142 (A grades earn more points)
  • TEAS scores in Reading, Math, and English (higher scores earn more points)
  • Completion of general education electives at time of application (completed earns points)
  • Number of attempts in BIO 141 and BIO 142
