Quick guide for students
- Find your class meeting pattern: Monday/Wednesday, Tuesday/Thursday or once per week.
- Locate your normal class start time.
- Your exam is held on the corresponding date and exam time shown in the official schedule.
- If you have two exams scheduled at the same time, contact your instructor first. If needed, appeal to your Academic Dean.
- Lab courses may have separate lab final exams. Check your syllabus.
- Classes meeting at off-campus locations (other than a NOVA campus) will hold their final examinations at their regularly scheduled meeting time during the examination period.
Quick guide for faculty
- Hybrid courses: Use the face-to-face meeting day. Once-per-week hybrid courses follow the once-per-week schedule.
- Classes beginning before 8 a.m., at 5 p.m. or later, or on weekends will hold final exams at their regularly scheduled meeting times.
- This exam schedule assumes 100-minute exams. Based on VCCS policy, examination periods are a minimum of 50 minutes and may not exceed 150 minutes of evaluation time. If an instructor wishes to offer an exam longer than 100 minutes, they must request a room change through their division. Exceptions must be approved by the appropriate campus Provost, Dean, or Associate Dean (Policy 5.3.0.2).
- Faculty with questions regarding final exams for 7W1 and 7W2 classes should consult their Dean or Associate Dean.
- Post grades in SIS within 48 hours of the final exam. All grades are due by the published deadline.
