Equal Employment Opportunity

Human Resources is responsible for the maintenance and advancement of equal opportunity in employment programs, activities and services without regard to race, sex (including pregnancy), color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, political affiliation, family medical history or genetic information, disability, or veteran status or any other basis protected by law.

Human Resources promotes Northern Virginia Community College’s commitment to the values of access, opportunity and excellence, believing firmly that such values lead to a rich diversity of thought and culture and an inclusive environment which celebrates, and not merely tolerates, the commonalities and differences within its community.

Equal Opportunity & Non-Discrimination

Northern Virginia Community College is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination in employment and education opportunity. This policy specifically prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, sex (including pregnancy), color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, political affiliation, family medical history or genetic information, or against otherwise qualified persons with disabilities in educational and employment opportunities, programs and activities. The policy permits appropriate employment preferences for veterans and specifically prohibits discrimination against veterans.

The EO Officer investigates and responds to complaints of discrimination from Northern Virginia Community College faculty, staff, applicants, contractors and visitors. For more information, please contact the EO Officer at eo@nvcc.edu.

NOVA faculty and staff may elect to file a complaint of discrimination via Human Resources' EO complaint process or via the applicable faculty or classified staff grievance policy and procedures, administered by Human Resources.

Once faculty or staff choose to pursue a discrimination claim under the EO complaint process, s/he is precluded from pursuing the same claim in the grievance process.
