NOVA is part of the Virginia Community College System and exists as part of the executive branch of state government. The majority of financial support for operations and maintenance, outside of student tuition, comes through appropriations from the Commonwealth’s biennial budget. This budget also funds the majority of NOVA’s capital budget. With G3 and Fast Forward, the state has significantly expanded its support of students to help meet region-specific workforce needs.
