Event Description The Medical Education Campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) will once again partner with the Northern Virginia Dental Society and Northern Virginia community volunteers to provide free dental services for approximately 800 low-income residents of Northern Virginia.
The Mission of Mercy project, also known as “M.O.M.” is a two-day event scheduled to take place on Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Approximately 150 NOVA dental hygiene students will work with community volunteers to provide services that include cleanings, extractions, fillings and prophylaxis.
Appointments are reserved by social service agencies.
“Our students and staff always look forward to this event every year,” said Dr. Howard Kelley, director of NOVA’sDental Clinic.
“We are honored to be able to participate in such a worthwhile outreach effort to help our community improve oral health.”
In its 12th year, the M.O.M. project of Northern Virginia would not be possible without the collaborative efforts of NOVA’s Medical Education Campus, Northern Virginia Dental Society, Northern Virginia Dental Hygienist Association, Virginia Commonwealth’s Dental School, Northern Virginia Health Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, and many other health and community organizations.
The donated services are valued at more than a quarter of a million dollars.
Events lasts through March 15 and March 16. |
