Event Description
Please join us for NOVA’s Fifth Annual Climate Change Symposium. The Climate Change Symposium is an information and discussion session.  This year’s theme is “Climate Change, Virginia, and the Larger Metro Area.” 

Entrance is free and open to the public

This year’s speakers are:
  • Stuart Freudberg, the Director of Environmental Programs for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG)
  • Bonnie Ram, President of Ram Power LLC and Associate Director & Senior Research Scientist at the Center for Carbon-Free Power Integration (UDEL)
  • Joe Witte, meteorologist and climate communicator
  • Jim Lyon, Vice President of Conservation Policy at National Wildlife Federation

They will be discussing and taking questions about:
  • The impacts of Climate Change on Virginia, 
  • The role of education and participation in mitigating climate change impacts – and specifics about what individuals can do,
  • What can be done to promote energy alternatives in Virginia (and beyond)
  • “Green jobs” and what exactly that means to community college students (and staff and faculty).
  • How students can get involved
