Tutoring Services

Appointment Guidelines

  • Students may schedule up to two (2) tutoring appointments  per week, per subject. Appointments may be made up to two weeks in advance.
  • Appointments for courses must be made using a subject-based service. Appointments made using the "academic skills" function for course-based work will be required to reschedule. (Academic skills appointments are only for non course-based essays or learning study skills.)
  • Appointments cannot be scheduled for the same subject back-to-back to ensure equal opportunity to time slots.
  • Please be respectful of your tutors' time by arriving on time. Tutors will leave after a 15-minute wait and mark the student as a "no-show".
  • If you cannot attend your appointment please cancel by going to the online scheduling system, Navigate, or emailing tutoring@nvcc.edu.

Paper Reviews

Manassas campus is providing asynchronous paper review support. Paper review is a process where a professional tutor reviews your paper and provides feedback on your document to help you better improve your grammar, spelling, mechanics, and writing process. This service is open to students enrolled in any subject at NOVA and can be submitted any time of day for feedback in 1-2 business days.

  • Printed Papers: Completed and printed papers can be dropped off in-person at Manassas campus, Howsman Building, MH-318, in the drop-box or inside the office during operating hours.
  • Virtual Submission: Completed papers can be emailed to tutoring@nvcc.edu with the subject "Paper Review". Please attach the document to the email and provide additional information regarding your assignment such as citation style, assignment requirements, and the course this document is for.
