MEET THE GRADS: Mom and Daughters Graduate from NOVA Together!

NOVA’s annual “Meet the Grads” series is spotlighting Mildred Waller, a woman who felt college was out of her grasp; but in May she graduated alongside two of her daughters.

Mildred and her husband married at 18 and started a family. For Mildred, raising five kids was her priority. She just did not have the time or resources to achieve her dream of a college education. As the decades passed, Mildred thought it was too late. But her mother used to tell Mildred that it's never too late unless you don’t try.

Mildred made sure her two daughters were able to go to college. Little did she know that she would be joining them.

On May 15, 2023, Mildred graduated from NOVA. She thanks her late mother, her role model and inspiration. For Mildred, this graduation day became a major celebration following an incredibly dark period for her family.
