This past Friday, the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE) recognized Northern Virginia Community College with its 2022 NADOHE Institutional Excellence Award (Two-Year, Public)
The Institutional Excellence Award is a competitive award presented to a select group of higher education institutions that have demonstrated measurable progress in promoting and sustaining innovative diversity efforts within their campus community. These efforts may involve, but are not limited to, institutional leadership, curricular reform, institutional transformation, professional development, assessment policies and practices, accountability measures, and community outreach efforts. The award underscores the impact of NOVA's collegewide commitment to inclusive excellence and actions undertaken to further diversity, equity, and inclusion for all students, faculty, and staff. Dr. Nathan Carter, CDEIO, accepted the award at the 2022 NADOHE Annual Conference in San Diego. Within the award presentation, Dr. Paulette Grandberry Russell, President of NADOHE, noted that “NOVA efforts to develop DEI programming, provide institutional support for DEI activities, and coordinate a comprehensive Inclusive Excellence plan in just one year's time is truly remarkable. NOVA's work is a model not just for community colleges, but for all colleges and universities to follow.”
