NOVA recognizes and appreciates the fact that college-level learning can be gained outside the classroom. We also realize that students are involved in much more than just school -- particularly adult students who have careers, families and other responsibilities.
Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) is a growing program throughout colleges and universities around the world. CPL can help students save money and earn a college degree faster.
Experiential learning can be evaluated for the purpose of awarding and gaining college credits through a process called Prior Learning Assessment (PLA).
CPL is a great tool if you:
- need a few more classes to complete your degree, but don't have time to take courses
- are accomplished in your field and don't want to take courses for something you already know
- have learned from experiences while making your way through significant life challenges
NOVA offers several prior learning assessment options to help you translate your learning into college credit. Please review the options below to find the one that works best for you.
Review the CPL manual for detailed information regarding eligible NOVA degree programs, CLEP and DSST testing options, and NOVA approved certifications and trainings.
