Tuition, Payment and Refund Information

Because NOVA is a public community college with financial support from the Commonwealth of Virginia, the College offers its students an exceptional educational value -- among the lowest tuition of any college or university in the Washington, D.C. area.

Enrollment costs at NOVA are based on a tuition-and-fee charge per credit hour, and are the same for credit or audit courses.

** Business and Military Contract Students- rate applies to out-of-state students whose VA employer or federal agency in VA has entered into a contractual relationship with NOVA.

The College does not send bills for tuition—you are responsible for paying your tuition on time.

Tuition Refunds

NOVA understands—occasionally life circumstances cause you to change your plans and you may need to drop a class. Please know that tuition refunds are not automatic except for those courses cancelled by the College.

NOTE: The Tuition Refunds section on page 10 of the printed Schedule of Classes has been updated. Please click the Tuition Refunds & Forgiveness of Debt link above for the updated information.

Federal Financial Aid Recipients: If you receive federal student aid (Title IV) and you withdraw from all your classes within 60% of the enrollment period, in most cases, you will owe money back to the College. For additional information, please visit the online financial aid support center and link to “Withdrawal & Return to Title IV Policy” or read the Return to Title IV Policy in its entirety in the Student Services financial aid handbook.
