Schedule of Classes - Spring 2011
Thank you for choosing to continue your academic studies with NOVA. We look forward to your return to NOVA in
Spring 2011. Because you have registered for classes in the past, you are already familiar with the enrollment process. Simply follow the steps outlined below. If you need more information, refer to the section for new student admission on page 6.
NOTE: If it has been more than three years since your last class at NOVA, you must reapply for admission.
STEP 1 Apply for Financial Aid
If you haven’t already filed the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2010-2011, please complete the
process and submit all required verification documents no
later than October 1 to ensure that aid will be awarded in time
to cover your tuition and fees for Spring 2011. See the
Financial Aid section (page 12) for more information.
Be sure to include the College’s School Code on your FAFSA:003727.

STEP 2 Meet With Your Advisor
Contact your academic division to set up a meeting
with your faculty advisor or counselor
before you register to make sure you’re taking the
right courses to achieve your academic goals. This is
especially important if you plan to transfer to another
college or university.
If you will be graduating at the end of the Spring Semester, you must apply online for graduation by March 1, but earlier is better. For more information see www.nvcc.edu/current-students/graduation/index.html.
STEP 3 Enroll in Classes
November 9-14: Priority registration for continuing students.
November 15: Open registration for all students begins.
To enroll for classes, use NOVAConnect on the Web at www.nvcc.edu/NOVAconnect/ or the NOVAConnect telephone enrollment system at 703–323–3770. From Prince William County, call 703–330–3770. Go to Frequently Asked Questions about Registration for NOVAConnect Telephone Enrollment assistance.
STEP 4 Pay Your Tuition
You will NOT be billed for tuition. Be sure to pay your tuition by the deadline
date indicated or drop undesired classes. If you fail to do
so, you will be charged for that class and may receive a
failing grade. You are financially responsible for all classes
for which you register; therefore, you should check your
account through NOVAConnect to verify that all tuition and
fees have been paid.
If you wish to pay your tuition in installments, you must
enroll in the Deferred Tuition Payment Plan before your
tuition due date. For more information

STEP 5 Print Receipts
Remember to print out a copy of your class schedule every time you make a change. Don’t forget to print out a copy of your payment receipt also.
STEP 6 Buy Your Books
You can purchase books at the bookstore on the campus where
the course is taught (books for ELI courses are available only at Alexandria), or
order them online at http://nvcc.bncollege.com.
If you have received a financial aid award large enough to cover tuition, fees and books, you may use it to purchase books online beginning December 3, or from campus bookstores from January 3 through 27, the 16-week Census Date. Remember that loans cannot be used until the promissory note and counseling have been completed and the loan has been processed; processing can take 3-5 business days after forms are entered as complete. Work-study awards cannot be used for books. If you are registered at less than full-time, your award totals will show as prorated in the bookstore, and you might not have enough aid to cover books.
24 Hours After You Enroll:
STEP 7 Buy Your Parking Permit (not required at ARL, RES, or off-campus locations)
Beginning November 15 permits can be purchased
online at http://parking.nvcc.edu and your permit will
be mailed to you. Temporary, seven-day passes can
be printed from the Web site for immediate use. See the
New Student section on page 6 for complete details. Parking enforcement begins
January 28.
STEP 8 Get Your Student ID Card (NOVACard)…
NOVACards are valid for two years. Click here for more information.
STEP 9 Activate Your Free Student E-Mail Account
If your free NOVA e-mail account is not active, activate it
before the start of Spring 2011 classes. For instructions,
