Schedule of classes -- Fall 2009
HONORS CLASSES
NOVA offers a variety of honors classes to highlymotivated students who seek a challenging academic experience. Through a variety of teaching methods, you will learn to think broadly and independently about the material covered. Fall 2009 honors classes are identified in the course listings by an “H” after the listing.
Admission to Individual Honors Courses
Admission to individual honors courses and options requires approval of the division, course instructor, or counselor based on test scores, prior achievement, or faculty recommendation.
Honors Core Curriculum
You may satisfy the requirements of both the Honors Core and any degree program by enrolling in the honors sections of courses or electives within the degree program requirements. To receive the Honors Core Curriculum designation on your diploma and official transcript, you must be admitted into the Honors Core Curriculum and must complete it with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in all honors courses taken, with no grade below a C in any Honors course. Completion of the Honors Core Curriculum will be designated on your transcript and on your diploma. You will also receive the Honors Certificate of Completion. This represents a significant enhancement of your academic credentials.

Honors Option
Any student may enroll into a course labeled “Honors Option”; however, these courses are also designed for those students who are involved with the Honors Program at NOVA. Any honors student who is interested in an honors option course should consult with the instructor within the first two weeks of the semester for guidelines about the honors option, including assignments and enrichment activities. Honors credit will be given to those who complete the “honors option” for designated courses, and credits for these honors option courses may count towards completion of the Honors Program at NOVA. Please contact one of the honors faculty listed above or the counseling office if you have questions.
