Known Issues Regarding Microsoft Vista and eNOVA
Posted 9.4.07 | 4:30PM
The eNova client is not compatible with the VISTA operating system. You can log into the system, but cannot connect to a session. Playback of recorded sessions is also problematic using VISTA.
· Centra/Saba (our eNOVA system vendor) has announced "At the current time, using Windows VISTA with any version of the Centra client is not supported." We are currently testing the Centra client for Microsoft Windows Vista support." At present, we are awaiting information on the Service Pack that will address the issue.
· Currently, the only known workaround for the eNOVA issue is to use an earlier version of Microsoft's operating system, such as XP.
Vista and Blackboard
·The Visual Textbox Editor in Blackboard does not work with Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista. In order to use IE in Vista, you must disable the Text Box Editor editor under Personal Information.
· A workaround to using IE 7 is to use the Firefox browser with Windows Vista (since Firefox does not use the ActiveX control that causes the problem, it is unaffected by the issue). The benefit to using Firefox is that it works; the drawback is that you will lose the advanced functionality available on IE with Windows XP. Blackboard is currently working to certify compatibility with Windows VISTA
Please note that these issues only affect machines with Microsoft Windows VISTA operating system. These issues do NOT apply to Windows XP or earlier versions of Microsoft operating systems. If possible, please use a machine with Windows XP or an earlier Microsoft operating system version. The college does offer access to open computer labs at every campus and center. Hours and locations are listed on each campus website. If you have additional questions about purchasing a computer or laptop with Microsoft Windows VISTA, please contact the IT Help Desk. |
