ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY PLAN OF STUDY IN TECHNICAL STUDIES
Associate in Applied Science Degree MA

Purpose: The specialization in Electrical Technology is designed to qualify personnel in both electrical technology and management for employment in all areas of a construction firm. Students will be prepared for entry-level employment in positions involving direct use of technical skills in the construction business. Occupational objectives include engineering aide, construction project manager, construction supervisor, estimator, and facilities planning and supervision. The curriculum includes content, skills and knowledge courses that are equivalent to the electrical apprenticeship program at Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

Admission Requirements: Students must be registered apprentices enrolled in an approved apprenticeship program, have successfully completed an approved apprenticeship program, or have received their state Journeyman Electrician license. Students should seek program admission in the Counseling Center and will be required to take the English and mathematics assessment tests to determine if they require any developmental studies for the program.

Total credits for the A.A.S. Degree in Technical Studies - Electrical Technology Plan of Study = 67.

1 The humanities elective may be met by one of the following options: HUM 201, 3 cr.; or HUM 241, 3 cr.

2 The PED requirement may be met by one of the following options: PED 116, 2 cr.; PED 116, 1 cr. plus a PED activities course, 1 cr.; or PED 116, 1 cr. plus RPK 205, 216, or 225. PED 116 is offered as both a 1-credit and a 2-credit course.

3 The social science elective may be selected from the  economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, or sociology (includes anthropology)  courses listed on pages 40-41.page 40
