The Importance of Attending Classes
When you register for a class at NOVA, you are making a commitment to engage fully in the learning process by attending the class regularly or by participating in an online class. Since the Commonwealth of Virginia contributes a significant portion of the cost of your education as a NOVA student, and since you are taking a seat in class that might have gone to another student, you must establish your attendance or participation early in the semester.
Effective Spring 2008, if you do not attend at least one class meeting or participate in a distance learning class by the Last Day to Drop with a Tuition Refund (also known as the Census Date1 ), your class registration will be administratively deleted.
This means:
- there will be no record of the class or any letter grade on your transcript;
- the course credits will be deducted from your course load;
- a reduction in credits may affect your student status -- full-time or part-time;
- you will not receive a tuition refund.
