Program Details

These curriculums present multiple pathways for students to explore web and application programming, design and development. Either by preparing students to design and implement traditional/legacy stand-alone and client-server applications or for employment as a junior mobile application developer or with the aesthetic, technical, and management knowledge required to create and manage well-designed and well-organized websites, one of these programs will fit your needs.

Program Degrees and Certificates

Program courses provide the knowledge and skills to test for these industry certifications. The IET Division strongly recommends that students take a specific preparatory or review course prior to setting for an exam. Exam fees are not included in the course fees or tuition. Possible industry certifications depending on program: MCP-Programming, Sun Certified Programming for Java 2, Google Associate Android Developer, or CIW – CIW Associate.

Program Details

The Application Programming curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to implement a Microsoft or Oracle product or technology as part of an organization's business solution. Students will be prepared to take one of the worldwide IT industry recognized certification exams. As either a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or a Sun Certified Programming for Java 2 programmer, allowing students to jump right into industry employment opportunities.

If your interest is in Mobile Application Development? Our program exposes you to the world of Android app development and prepares you for an industry recognized certification. Throughout the program you’ll focus on software design, Java and Android development, mobile programming and even iOS devices, while preparing for the Google Associate Android Developer industry certification. Opening doors to employment and providing life-long opportunities.

Have you played around designing a webpage? Maybe the Web Design and Development program is right for you. Turn that interest into a career as a website designer. Our program will prepare you for an entry-level position using industry leading platforms, while immersing you in course work that sets you up for 2 industry certifications. You'll explore web, software and multimedia design and wrap it up by learning client and web scripting.

Students should possess a proficiency in high school English, algebra and geometry, and have computer keyboarding skills before applying to any of these programs. If you are unsure, contact a counselor or your academic advisor.

  • Transfer Opportunities

    Transfer is not the primary purpose of C.S.C. programs. NOVA has articulation agreements that facilitate the transfer of select programs to senior institutions. Students interested in transfer should contact a counselor or their academic advisor early in their program.

  • Credit for Prior Learning

    Northern Virginia Community College accepts industry-standard certifications, credentials and/or professional courses for credit. Broadly, licenses, credentials and/or certifications must be current and valid for consideration. For more information regarding the status of the certification and its eligibility for credit, please see an advisor or faculty members in the discipline area that awards CPL credit.
