Kathleen McNamee - STEM Coordinator Alexandria

Kathleen grew up in Arlington and became interested in science in middle school.  She earned her bachelor's degree in Biology with a concentration in Marine Biology from Old Dominion University.  Kathleen then went on to earn a master's degree from the College of William and Mary's Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Fisheries Science.

Kathleen worked as a fisheries biologist for Old Dominion University, DC Fisheries, and the University of Maryland before moving into education.  She spends seven years as a high school biology teacher with Arlington County Public Schools.  Kathleen comes to NOVA from DC's Department of Energy and Environment where she worked as an educator in their Fisheries and Wildlife Division.
