Student Spotlight - Lisbeth, High School Sophomore

Lisbeth, High School Sophomore

I was born in El Salvador and came to the U.S. when I was eight years old. Two years ago I won the Micron Challenge, a program that helps students to pursue advanced courses in STEM. It was difficult, but much more fun than I thought. Winning this challenge changed my life, helped me see that I wanted a STEM career and now my dream is to be an architect.

I have been involved in competitive robotics since my freshman year and now I'm the president of the SEAPerch club at my school. I've won awards for innovative design and for my engineering journal in competitions. I'm proud of my accomplishments.

I encourage other students to go into STEM education. I want to attend NOVA to help save money, but also because it is a great place to begin achieving my dreams. The world revolves around technology and science and I think it's important for females to step up and be equally represented in STEM.
