Information regarding alternative local transit options has been posted below under each route tab for the corresponding NOVA campus that route services. Local transit information for the Manassas, Woodbridge, and Medical Education campuses can be found at the bottom of the page under “Additional Transit Information.”

 

  • The Metrobus offers weekday and limited weekend service between the Annandale Campus and the Vienna and King St. Old Town Metro Stations on the 29K and 29N (Alexandria-Fairfax line) routes. 
  • The Metrobus 29C (Annandale line) and the Metrobus 29W (Braeburn Drive-Pentagon Express line) routes are currently not in operation until further notice due to COVID-19. The Annandale campus is a stop on these routes and both routes will be unavailable.
  • Metrobus Fare: $2.00 cash fare or SmarTrip cardexact change is required as bus drivers do not carry change.  Mobile payment is also available. Please click here for more information on WMATA fares.
  • The Metrobus requires all passengers to wear face coverings and to follow social distancing as much as possible while onboard.
  • The Metrobus 29K and 29N routes are operating on a slightly-limited basis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eastbound stops toward the King St-Old Town Metro Station are slightly staggered but Westbound stops toward the Vienna-Fairfax/GMU Station are still widely available.  Stops directly at the Annandale campus are unaffected. Please use the service info link for the 29K and 29N routes below for the most up-to-date schedule.

  • Direct and frequent service between the campus and King St. Metro Station is provided every 10-15 minutes, 7 days a week, by the DASH Line 31. Most Line 31 trips continue into Old Town, ending at the Braddock Rd. Metro Station.
  • The Metrobus 25B, also stopping on campus, provides service between Ballston Station, Carlin Springs Road, and Mark Center Station, 7 days a week.
  • Nearby, the following services are available:
    • DASH Line 35, providing service between the Pentagon and Van Dorn Metro, serving all Beauegard St. points, Braddock Rd. (behind the Schlesinger Garage), or N. Beauregard St. & Fillmore Ave.
    • Metrobus 7A, serving the Shirlington and Fairlington areas, every 15-20 minutes, 7 days a week. The closest stops to campus are at N. Beauregard St. & Braddock Rd. (behind the Schlesinger Garage), or N. Beauregard St. & Fillmore Ave.
    • Metrobus 28A, serving stops in Bailey's Crossroads, Seven Corners, and on the Rte. 7/Leesburg Pike corridor in Fairfax County, as well as Seminary Rd. and Duke St. points in Alexandria. This route operates every 12 minutes, 7 days a week, with nearby stops on Fillmore Ave.
  • Effective September 5, 2021, all DASH routes are free - no passes, IDs, or SmartTrip cards needed.

  • Information on how to get from NOVA Alexandria Campus to NOVA Annandale Campus:
    • Take Metrobus number 25B (Landmark/Ballston Line) in front of the Bisdorf Building (Campus Library entrance) to Carlin Springs Road & Columbia Pike, transfer to the 16A, go to Little River Turnpike & Backlick Road, then transfer to the 29K to Lake Drive & NOVA Annandale Campus. Do the reverse to return from the NOVA Annandale Campus to the NOVA Alexandria Campus.
    • Take Metrobus number 25B (Landmark/Ballston Line) in front of the Bisdorf Building (Campus Library entrance) to Landmark Mall Roadway & Mall entrance and transfer to the 29K West to George Mason University which will take you to Lake Drive & NOVA Annandale Campus. Do the reverse to return from the NOVA Annandale Campus to the NOVA Alexandria Campus.

  • Loudoun County Transit offers local bus service from Monday through Saturday between the Loudoun campus and the INOVA Loudoun Hospital on the Route 70 (Leesburg-Sterling) bus. The bus drops off and picks up on Potomac View Rd directly across the street from the campus.
  • Bus Fare: Loudoun County Transit has resumed collecting fares.  The fare is $1 one-way, which may be paid with Cash or a SmarTrip card.  Please visit their website for the most up-to-date information.
  • Face coverings are required on Loudoun County buses and in waiting areas until further notice.
  • The route schedule for the Route 70 bus is unaffected by COVID-19 and is operating on the normal schedule.

Additional Transit Information

Manassas Campus

  • PRTC’s OmniRide Bus offers weekday service between the Manassas Campus and Oaks of Wellington on the Manassas AM and PM routes. 
  • Transit from Woodbridge to Manassas is provided on OmniRide’s East-West Express, which runs between the PRTC Transit Center in Woodbridge and the Manassas Mall (the Manassas AM and PM routes can be accessed at the Manassas Mall stop).
  • OmniRide Fare: $1.55 one way (cash or SmarTrip card) for Local Destinations within the Prince William area.  Please visit OmniRide’s website for more information on fares.
  • Both of the OmniRide routes mentioned above are operating as normal and route schedules are not interrupted by COVID-19.  Please use the links below for the most up-to-date schedules.

MEC Campus

  • The Fairfax Connector offers weekday service between the Medical Campus and Franconia-Springfield Metro.
  • Bus Fare: $2.00 one-way cash or SmarTrip card; exact fare is required if paying by cash, no pennies accepted.
  • All Fairfax Connector bus routes are in normal operation and route schedules are uninterrupted by COVID-19.  Please visit their website for the most up-to-date information.

Woodbridge Campus

  • PRTC’s OmniRide Bus offers weekday and limited weekend service between the PRTC Transit Center and Quantico Terrace/Fuller Heights on the Dumfries AM and PM routes; the Woodbridge Campus is a stop on these routes.
  • OmniRide Fare: $1.55 one way (cash or SmarTrip card) for Local Destinations within the Prince William area.  Please visit OmniRide’s website for more information on fares.
