More and more courses are being offered in a hybrid format, which blends face-to-face teaching and online learning.
Depending on the subject, the amount of web-based instruction can vary in proportion to the class meetings. Hybrid courses are NOT condensed courses. They require the same number of contact hours as traditional courses, except that half the course is taught online.
Most hybrid courses use “Blackboard”—you can log on to get your Blackboard account here. A reliable Internet connection is essential. If you do not have your own computer, you can use one of NOVA’s computer labs.
There’s an excellent website on Hybrid Courses which explains how they work, the challenges presented by the hybrid format, and strategies for achieving success, along with advice from other students.
