Message from the President's Office - NOVA Spring 2021 Plans
We miss you in our classrooms, in our offices, and in our hallways. Your presence adds a special vitality to NOVA and our campuses. Yet, this is an academic year unlike any other, and the challenges posed by the pandemic that led us to start this year remotely have not appreciably changed. As much as we would love to return fully to campus life, your health and safety comes first. So, today, I write to share that NOVA will remain largely remote for Spring 2021 classes.

MEC Closure
An individual who was at the Medical Education Campus on Monday, July 27, 2020, has tested positive for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, care, and concern, and in accordance with CDC guidance, the Medical Education Campus will be deep cleaned, sanitized, and closed Thursday, July 30, 2020, through Monday, August 3, 2020. Classes will resume at the Medical Education Campus on Tuesday, August 4, 2020.
The Virginia Department of Health has been notified and will be contacting anyone who was potentially exposed. The Virginia Department of Health can be reached at 703-246-8663. We encourage everyone to review information provided by the CDC regarding guidelines and procedures to follow to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. Message from the President's Office - NOVA Fall 2020 Plans
At NOVA, we know that our campuses are much more than locations: they are learning communities in which our students building sustaining connections and grow as scholars and leaders. All of us are eager to return to the vibrancy and vitality of campus life, but we also know that the health and safety of our students and employees must come first. Much remains uncertain about the impact that COVID-19 will have this fall, so in our plans, NOVA seeks to balance all these considerations and to recognize that conditions will change throughout the semester.

Message from the President's Office
It’s been a little over a week since NOVA went to remote learning. I want to thank you personally for your patience and flexibility during these challenging days. You’re doing amazing work at a difficult time, and we are grateful for your dedication and commitment to your classes. We know that many of you have begun to look to the end of this unprecedented semester and have started thinking about your grades. I write to share that yesterday the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) released its formal policy informing how the grading system across all 23 Virginia community colleges would be modified for the spring 2020 semester in light of the difficult issues related to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Changes to Spring Semester 2020 Academic Calendar
With the changes to this term, we’ve made some changes to the academic calendar and enrollment cancellation process. The last date to withdraw without a grade penalty for 16, 14, 12, 10 and second 8 week classes has been shifted to May 10 (for NOVA Online classes that end before this date, the last day to withdraw without a grade penalty will be the day before the end of the session). And there will be no enrollment cancellations. The Census Dates (the last day to drop with a tuition refund) for all class have not been changed.

Manassas Campus Closed: NOVA has closed the Manassas Campus until further notice due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19.

I wanted to provide an update to yesterday’s announcement of a possible COVID-19 exposure on our Annandale campus. The individual has tested negative for the virus, and I know you join me in wishing the individual and their family peace after this period of difficult uncertainty.

Northern Virginia Community College Implements Remote Learning Plan
NOVA's Current Operating Status: Out of an abundance of caution and with a goal of supporting CDC guidance regarding social distancing during the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) will shift to remote learning for students. Students should take precautionary measures and not return from spring break. NOVA classes will be cancelled on March 16th and March 17th to allow for the transition. Most classroom instruction will be conducted virtually from Wednesday, March 18th through April 4th.
