Message from the President's Office - Manassas Closure (March 17)

Dear NOVA Community,

An individual employed at our Manassas Campus has reported testing positive for COVID-19.

The employee was on the Manassas campus for a short period on March 11 during which the reporting employee met with a second employee. This is the only time the reporting employee has been on campus since spring break began. The reporting employee had no contact with students during this time.

Our Office of Emergency Management team is in contact with local health officials and the reporting employee, who is under self-quarantine. The second employee who met with the reporting employee also under self-quarantine.

NOVA is taking the following steps today:

  • Identifying and notifying coworkers who might have come in contact with the second employee.
  • Closing our Manassas campus beginning at 4:30 pm for a deep cleaning in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • Given that we have moved to remote learning and employees have been provided with the ability for temporary telework, this campus will remain closed until further notice.
  • Employees with questions with questions about COVID-19 emergency leave should contact hradmin@nvcc.edu.
